DIY Map Box

we all love take-out, don't we?

well how about turning take-out into art?
I'm not sure what I'll use it for yet, maybe to hold jewelry or notes

Here's how:

GATHER YOUR MATERIALS:

• a map (preferably an old one that you don't use anymore)
• scissors
• a pencil
• mod podge (or glue)
• a paint brush (to spread the mod podge or glue)
• a Chinese food take-out box

STEP ONE:
Unfold da box. Easy so far, right?

STEP TWO:
Trace the box onto the map in a desired area & cut it out

STEP THREE:
Glue the map piece to the box & fold it up!
VOILA!

DIY photo & jewelry display

I love finding new ways to display jewelry and photos, and this project is absolutely perfect because it's not permanent: you can change out the photos anytime and the jewelry is easily moved and changed as well. 

MATERIALS:

• fabric covered foam core board (Michael's)
• sewing pins
• old photos

PROCEDURE:

• Well the procedure is pretty simple and self-explanatory
• lay the board on the ground & arrange the pictures 
• pin them down
• hang the board up (the board I had already had mounting hooks on the back, so I used a couple push pins in the wall to mount it.)
• hang your jewelry (and any other things you want...I have a couple cloth flowers and a pressed carnation up there)
• and VOILA!

New Years & New Beginnings

I suppose a new year calls for new beginnings, fresh starts, and...every now and then some much needed redecorating! A while ago I came across a great stash of old family photos, but I had nothing to do with them, so they stayed cooped up in their box. (What a shame, right?) This winter break left me with loads of free time, so I decided to reopen that box and rummage through our tool box for some twine. (Oh I do love twine!) I saw this photo display idea online, so I thought I'd take a whack at it!
